FRONTPAGE CONNECTIONS
Use Claude Code with your Frontpage sites
Read site source, make page changes and check the preview for the revision you saved. Review and publish through Frontpage.
Public beta. Eligible Frontpage customers can connect directly or use the public package. Claude directory submission is separate.
See the MCP developer guide for the full tool scope and support, or the MCP Server feature page for current client availability.
Before you connect
You need an existing Frontpage site and a Claude Code installation signed in through a supported Claude account or API setup. New Frontpage users complete the normal browser signup, profile and first-site setup first.
MCP source access requires Scale or an eligible internal site. Every request also checks your current site membership and role. Read-only access needs viewer permission; editing needs editor or admin permission.
An account connection can include all current and future eligible sites, including shared sites you can access. You can instead limit it to selected sites. Connecting an account does not unlock sites on other plans.
1. Add the remote connection
In Terminal, run:
claude mcp add --transport http --scope user frontpage https://app.frontpage.host/api/mcp
claude mcp login frontpageIf you already installed the Frontpage plugin, use its bundled server from /mcp instead. Choose one setup path to avoid duplicate entries. No local Frontpage server or API key is needed for MCP.
The plugin workflow is /frontpage:site-edit. Download the package from the public release, check its checksum and follow its README. No directory listing is claimed.
2. Sign in and choose access
- Sign in on app.frontpage.host with your normal emailed sign-in code. Enter it only on Frontpage.
- Check the account shown on the consent page.
- Choose all current and future eligible sites, or only the sites you select.
- Choose Read only or Read and edit for website source. If the client requests People and email access, choose that separately. It defaults to none.
- Return to the Claude Code session that started the connection. Its local browser callback is part of that login.
Claude receives revocable OAuth tokens, not your email code, Frontpage browser session or CLI API key. Source access can include unpublished content and personal data stored in that source.
Account-wide access automatically covers a new site once it qualifies. Selected-site access requires a new approval to add a site. Both modes keep current plan and role checks.
3. Make and review a change
Start with a specific task. For example:
- “List the Frontpage sites this connection covers, then show the pages on the site I choose.”
- “On my chosen site, read the home page and shorten its introduction. Preserve the layout and other content. Check that saved revision’s preview. Do not publish.”
- “Create an About page using my site’s existing layout and styles. Check its matching preview and give me the review link. Do not publish.”
Saving starts preview work. Wait for ready for the saved revision, then open the returned preview/editor link. Sign in to Frontpage in that browser if needed. Review and use the existing publish controls when you want the change public.
Keep your Frontpage agent task and Claude edits separate in time. An active Frontpage task blocks file pushes; wait for it to finish or use Frontpage’s existing cancel control.

Operation and payload reference: https://frontpage.host/developers/mail. resultPage.nextOffset pages top-level arrays. Sent records provider acceptance, not inbox delivery.

- List accessible sites

- Read allowed UTF-8 source at the returned revision. Continue with nextOffset and pass the returned revision when assembling a file.
- Search source files
- Search allowed source with literal, whole-word or files-only options at the returned revision. Regular expressions remain CLI-only. Narrow the path or query if truncated.
- List revision history
- List bounded revision history. This tool cannot revert changes.
- Check a revision preview
- Check the exact revision's preview. Ready, building, failed, superseded and unknown are distinct. Browser sign-in may be required.
- Save file changes and build a preview
- Save a batch of allowed text file creations/updates and request a preview build. Requires the revision inspected and a unique operation ID. Retry only with the same ID and payload. No delete or production publish.
Text changes support up to 20 files, 256 KiB per file and 1 MiB total. Secret and platform-owned scaffold paths are protected. Long reads and lists use bounded results; Claude follows the returned continuation offset and revision.
People and email tools require separate crm:read or crm:write consent. Source-only grants cannot access contacts, groups, stages, rules or email. Management can send or activate automation on your instruction where role and plan checks permit it. Existing grants gain no CRM access. Read the People and Mail developer guides before using these tools. This release does not manage Articles records, inbox messages, orders, billing, members or vendor credentials. It does not create your first site, delete files or publish production changes. Editing a page’s layout does not grant access to a module’s business records. The CLI has a separate API-key connection and a broader command set.
Manage or disconnect access
Open Workspace → Developers → Connected Apps. Expand Connection details to disconnect one grant, or disconnect the app to stop all its active connections.
Signing out of Frontpage, uninstalling the plugin or removing local configuration does not revoke a grant. Disconnect blocks later requests and refreshes; it does not undo saved edits or remove data already received by the client.
A connection lasts at most 90 days. Refresh access expires after 30 days without use. You may need to sign in and approve access again after expiry or revocation.
Troubleshooting
- Site not eligible
- Check that site’s Scale plan and your membership. Account-wide access needs no new connection after the site becomes eligible.
- Read-only or permission error
- Use only approved actions. If you choose to grant editing, reconnect with Read and edit. A broader grant cannot replace a missing site role.
- Conflict or active task
- Wait for the existing task or read the current source before preparing another edit. Do not force an older revision over a newer one.
- Pending or uncertain write
- Keep the same operation ID and exact payload. For OUTCOME_UNKNOWN or OPERATION_EXPIRED, stop edits and inspect source/history or contact support; do not repeat the mutation with a new ID.
- Failed or superseded preview
- Check the reported revision. A saved edit or a different ready build is not proof that your requested preview is ready.
- Expired connection or callback problem
- Restart login from the intended client and complete it in the same browser/account. Do not share codes or callback URLs.
- Temporarily unavailable or rate limited
- Follow retry guidance. Access may pause during service maintenance. Removing local configuration will not bypass plan, role or consent checks.
Contact support@frontpage.host with your client version, site slug, error code and correlation ID. Keep tokens, sign-in codes, callback URLs and private site source out of support messages.
